Among the 54,000 Luiss alumni in the world, Marcella Panucci is considered to be the most honorable of the year; she just became the Head of the Italian Universities and Research Ministry Cabinet in October.
After graduating in Law with honors at Luiss in 1994, she quickly got to a powerful position by joining the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition in 1998.
But after several years there, she ended up going for a different path and became General Director of Confindustria in 2012. While heading this massive industrial federation, she also became a councilor of the prominent newspaper Il Sole 24, owned by Confindustria. But it wasn’t enough for her, and because she missed research, she did a Ph.D. in Competition Law at the same time and later on became a regular professor at Luiss.
All of those remarkable experiences led her to even more prestigious adventures as the Head of the Technical Secretariat and Economic Advisor of the Minister of Justice in 2012, before returning to politics in 2021 and being named Head of the Cabinet of the Minister for Public Administration. Even though she seemed to have settled down into public administration and politics, who knows what the future will lead her to?
One thing that we can be certain of is that Luiss University will always support her in the same way that she supported it, years after graduating. This can only make you understand how important it is to be forever grateful to the people and institutions that pushed you into the powerful situations you are in now.
Marcella Panucci did not hesitate to try out different pathways which led her to diverse empowering positions, she probably could have have never gotten if she stayed in her lane. Hence, this successfull women is an example that we should all take Inspiration from.
